Belle of the Carnival

Kate M. Colby shares a beautiful piece of poetry with us this Friday. It makes me want to curl my toes in the sand and plunge into the refreshing ocean.

Kate M. Colby considers herself more of a novelist and creative non-fiction essayist than poet, but she enjoys writing poetry when the muse strikes. She was introduced to the art of poetry while studying creative writing at Baker University, but since graduating, she has focused solely on writing her first novel, to be published in the fall of 2015. The following poem, “How to Love the Ocean,” was part of her poetry collection, “Olive Branch,” which she presented at the 2013 Sigma Tau Delta International Conference. It was also published in the 2012 edition of Watershed Literary Magazine.
